§ 13-40. Fire protection district no. 6.

  • (a)

    Creation. A fire protection district is hereby created within the parish comprising and embracing all of that territory situated in that portion of the parish lying west of the Mississippi River and embraced within the following boundaries:

    Beginning at the intersection of a line one hundred twelve (112) feet west of and parallel to Gulf Street (western boundary of the City of Gretna), as projected and the Mississippi River; thence in a southeasterly direction along said line one hundred twelve (112) feet west of and parallel to Gulf Street (western boundary of the City of Gretna) to its intersection with the centerline of the Verret Canal; thence in a southerly direction along the centerline of the Verret Canal as it crosses Bayou Fatima and becomes the Trapp Canal; thence continuing in a southerly direction along the centerline of the Trapp Canal to its intersection with the centerline of Bayou Barataria; thence in a southwesterly direction along the centerline of Bayou Barataria to its intersection with the centerline of the Harvey Canal (Gulf Intracoastal Waterway); thence in a northerly direction along the centerline of the Harvey Canal (Gulf Intracoastal Waterway) to its intersection with the centerline of the Mississippi River; thence in an easterly direction along the centerline of the Mississippi River to its intersection with a line one hundred twelve (112) feet west of and parallel to Gulf Street (eastern boundary of the City of Gretna), as projected, the point of beginning.

    (b)

    Official designation. The fire protection district created in subsection (a) shall be known and designated as "Fire Protection District No. 6 of the Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana."
