§ 17-20. Support of the prison medical unit.

(a)

Hospital Service District No. 1 and Hospital Service District No. 2 shall be invoiced by the finance department on a monthly basis for the pro rata costs of the prison medical unit based upon a formula to be determined by said districts and the finance department. Each invoice shall be paid by the districts to the finance director within thirty (30) days of the date of the invoice.

(b)

Beginning on January 1, 2017, the finance department shall no longer invoice Hospital Service District No. 2 for the pro rata costs of the prison medical unit, except as indicated in subsection (c) hereinunder. As set forth in section 2-888 herein, one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) of Jefferson Parish's portion of the revenues from the settlement of the matter entitled Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc. v. The Parish of Jefferson, 24th JDC, No. 689-431, Div. "J" regarding the Jefferson Parish Red Light Camera Safety Program shall be used for final payment and settlement of any and all outstanding invoices from the finance department for Hospital Service District No. 2's pro rata costs of the prison medical unit.

(c)

Upon the finalization of the Hospital Service District No. 1 lease agreement, the finance department shall begin invoicing Hospital Service District No. 1 in the amount of one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) annually for the support of the prison medical unit, which invoices shall be payable from the lease proceeds. In the event that Hospital Service District No. 2 should ever receive payment(s) under an agreement to lease the entirety of the facilities of East Jefferson General Hospital, the obligations of Hospital Service District No. 1 and Hospital Service District No. 2 to each pay its pro rata share of the costs of the prison medical unit shall resume, with each districts' equal share of the costs of the prison medical unit being payable from the lease proceeds received by the district.
