§ 17-35. Duties of the department of inspection and code enforcement in smoke prevention.

  • The duties of the department of inspection and code enforcement shall be:

    (1)

    To investigate all complaints of violations of this article;

    (2)

    To investigate and make recommendations from time to time to the parish council with respect to the needed revisions in this or any other ordinance pertaining to smoke control and air pollution;

    (3)

    To cooperate fully with all civic or other organizations which may be or become interested in the smoke prevention campaign;

    (4)

    To promulgate and publish rules and regulations under which this article will be administered, providing in detail, and with clarity, the necessary information by which the public is to be guided; copies of the Ringelmann chart shall be made available to the public at cost to the department; the rules and regulations herein prescribed to be adopted shall be prepared only after a thorough consideration of the air pollution problem as it exists in the parish;

    (5)

    To issue all permits required to enforce this article and to notify all parties concerned of any decision he may render;

    (6)

    To do any and all other acts which may be necessary for the successful prosecution of the purposes of this article, and such other acts as may be specifically enumerated therein as his duties.
