§ 19-48. Inspectors; jurisdiction.
The director of the department of inspection and code enforcement shall designate inspectors whose duties shall be as follows:
(1)
Inspect any building, wall or structure about which complaints are filed by any person to the effect that a building, wall or structure is or may be existing in violation of the terms of this article;
(2)
Inspect any building, wall or structure reported by the fire, health or police department of this parish as probably existing in violation of the terms of this article;
(3)
Inspect buildings in the parish to determine whether they are "dangerous buildings" within the terms of this article;
(4)
Document the existence of buildings that are found to be dangerous incorporating the reports of the fire, health and police departments where applicable;
(5)
Schedule a hearing pursuant to section 2.5-7, fulfilling the notice requirements to interested parties as provided therein, and further notifying other involved parish officials so that they may attend and testify when appropriate or transferring said violation to the Environmental Court for handling;
(6)
Appear at all hearings conducted on a violation of this chapter and testify as to the conditions existing;
(7)
Place notices and/or placards on "dangerous buildings" if applicable by this code;
(8)
All matters transferred to the Environmental Court shall follow Louisiana rules of court and/or procedures as used by the parish attorney's office.
(9)
Those structures which are otherwise dangerous to human life pursuant to this article, and/or LSA-RS 33:1373 shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Twenty-Fourth Judicial District Court, Environmental Court Section.
(10)
There shall exist concurrent jurisdiction between the Twenty-Fourth Judicial District Court, Environmental Court Section and the Bureau of Administrative Adjudication for all matters brought subject to this chapter except as otherwise specified in this chapter.
