§ 20-31. False impersonation.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any association, club, society, firm, partnership, or corporation to impersonate or represent itself as, without legal authority, an agency, department or district of the Parish of Jefferson or the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to impersonate a code enforcement officer, fire fighter, law enforcement officer, or public officer, deputy sheriff, employee or official of the Parish of Jefferson or the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office or any of its districts, agencies and/or departments.

    (c)

    The term "impersonate," as used herein, shall, in addition to its common meaning, signification and connotation, mean:

    (1)

    The unauthorized representation of oneself as a code enforcement officer, fire fighter, law enforcement officer, or officer or employee of the Parish of Jefferson or the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, any of its deputy sheriffs or any of its districts, agencies and/or departments; or

    (2)

    The assuming or wearing of, without authority, any badge, patch, identification, insignia, uniform, or any portion thereof, which is distinctive in color, design, material, markings or insignia to any employee of the Parish of Jefferson or the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office; or

    (3)

    The performing or undertaking of any act purporting to be official in such assumed or represented character; or any attempt to perform or undertake any such act.

    (d)

    No company shall provide, furnish or permit any employee(s) to wear a uniform, badge, patch, identification, insignia or any portion thereof of the same color, design, or markings as that worn by any employee of the Parish of Jefferson or the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office which is so similar in appearance as to confuse, tend to confuse, or not be clearly distinguishable from the uniforms used by employees of the Parish of Jefferson or the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
