§ 20-31.1. Unauthorized copying or reproduction of identification badges, permits or certificates

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the unauthorized use, possession, sale, or manufacture any Jefferson Parish identification badge, permit, or re-entry certificate.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally present false or fraudulent information, including but not limited to altered or counterfeit documents, to obtain an identification badge, permit, or re-entry certificate issued by the Parish of Jefferson. The intentional use or possession of any such identification badge, permit, or re-entry certificate issued upon such false or fraudulent information shall constitute the unlawful use of an identification badge, permit, or re-entry certificate.

    (c)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to use, possess, sell, manufacture, make, copy, alter, reproduce or otherwise duplicate any false, fraudulent or counterfeit Jefferson Parish identification badge, permit, or re-entry certificate.

    (d)

    Each unauthorized use, possession, sale, manufacture, copy, alteration, reproduction, or duplication of an identification badge, permit, or re-entry certificate and each possession, sale, manufacture, copy, alteration, reproduction, or duplication of a false, fraudulent or counterfeit identification badge, permit, or re-entry certificate shall constitute a separate violation.

    (e)

    The following terms, as used herein, shall in addition to the common meanings, signification and connotations, mean as follows:

    (1)

    The term "identification badge" as shall mean any badge, identification card, or other insignia, of the design prescribed, issued or adopted by the Parish of Jefferson for use by any officer or employee of the parish or any of its special districts;

    (2)

    The term "permit" shall mean any document evidencing formal authorization, permission or license issued by the parish for the holder of same to perform any lawful action for which a permit is required by law, including temporary permits, whether or not a fee is paid or a formal application for a permit is made;

    (3)

    The term "re-entry certificate" shall mean the official documentation adopted, approved or issued by the Parish of Jefferson to allow the holder thereof to regain entry into to the parish or any evacuated portion thereof following an evacuation order as a result of a disaster or emergency that has been declared, pursuant to R.S. 29:721 et seq.;

    (4)

    The term "false, fraudulent or counterfeit identification badge, permit, and re-entry certificate" shall mean any identification badge, permit, or re-entry certificate or any copy or imitation thereof, or photographs, prints, or any engraving, photograph, print, or impression in the likeness of any such badge, identification card, other insignia, permit, or re-entry certificate or any imitation thereof, not authorized by the Parish of Jefferson.
