§ 20-168. Duty of parent, guardian, etc.; exceptions.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of a minor under the age of seventeen (17) years to permit such minor to loiter, idle, wander, stroll, or play in or upon public streets, highways, alleys, parks, playgrounds, wharves, docks or other public grounds, public places and public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lob or other unsupervised places at any time between 11:00 p.m. and 5;00 a.m. on Monday through Thursday, and between 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m. on Friday through Sunday, in the parish.

    (b)

    The provisions of this section do not apply to a minor accompanied by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or when the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate purpose directed by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person, having the care, and custody of the minor.
