§ 25-100. Definitions
For the purpose of this article, certain words and terms are hereby defined. Words used in the present tense shall include the future; the singular number shall include the plural and the plural the singular. Unless specifically defined, words or phrases used in this article shall have the meaning of common usage that gives this article its most reasonable application.
Citizens advisory committee shall mean, as outlined within this article, a committee made up of citizens appointed by the parish council and parish president that will provide recommendations through the planning department to the Old Metairie Commission, as appropriate, planning advisory board, and parish council on the proposal of major implementing ordinances or new elements to the comprehensive plan. Within this article, the citizens advisory committee will also be known as the "committee."
Comprehensive plan shall mean a comprehensive long-range plan intended to guide the growth and development of unincorporated Jefferson Parish, and containing goals, objectives and policies for elements including, but not limited to, land use, transportation, housing, community facilities, public works, and economic development, and further described in this Code. The term "comprehensive plan" shall include the terms "master plan" and "land use plan". Within this article, the comprehensive plan will also be known as the "plan."
Development regulation shall mean zoning, subdivision, floodplain ordinance, or other governmental regulation of the use and development of land.
Land use action shall mean site plan review, exception and modification, special permitted use, development agreement, zoning or land use text and map amendment, zoning or land use determination, subdivision, resubdivision, or certificate of use and occupancy.
