§ 25-321. General.

Latest version.
  • The housing element of Envision Jefferson 2020 defines Jeffersonians' view of the role of local government in facilitating the provision of housing throughout the unincorporated area of the Parish.

It recognizes that the private sector drives the production and availability of housing in large measure, and that the primary role of government is to facilitate private-sector housing development for the benefit of the citizenry. It emphasizes an incentive-based (as opposed to regulatory) approach to housing development.

The housing element consists of a series of goals, objectives, and policy statements (see section 25-454 Goals, Objectives, and Policies); related housing element implementation strategy tasks (see section 25-407 Same—Plan Implementation Table); and a Housing Data Report which reviews relevant U.S. Census Data, provides population and housing projections, summarizes Jefferson Parish housing data, provides housing unit projections and needs, and summarizes the 2000—2004 Jefferson Parish Consolidated Plan for the Jefferson HOME Consortium.

The Housing Data Report is hereby made a part of this article, and all text, tables, maps and other graphics shall form a part of this article as if all the matter and information set forth thereon were fully described and copied herein. The Housing Data Report is accessible only from the Planning Department of the Parish of Jefferson.
