§ 29-58. Service equipment.

  • The service equipment shall consist of a service entrance conduit fitting, a thirty (30) ampere weatherproof switch, a galvanized weatherproof junction box of suitable size (see section 5768 of N.E.C.) to connect service wires with underground feeder wires and one and one-fourth (1¼) inch galvanized rigid conduit. This equipment shall be mounted on the utility company's pole or other suitable service pole, with the service head at a height to be determined by the local utility, the service switch at a height of eight (8) feet above grade and the bottom of the junction box six (6) inches above grade. The service conductors shall be run in galvanized rigid and threaded conduit and the conduit to be continuous from the service head to the weatherproof junction box. The service conduit shall be supported as required by the National Electrical Code.
