§ 2-21. Protocol for the filling of a vacancy other than in the office of a member of the parish council or parish president.

Whenever the Jefferson Parish Council is authorized by law to fill a vacancy within an elected office other than that of a member of the parish council or parish president, the council shall substantially follow the procedures and protocols as set forth in section 2-101 herein for the filling of said vacancy, with the time periods set forth within section 2-101 to be modified as necessary for the council to make the appointment within the period allowed under law for the council's appointment of a person to fill the vacant position. In lieu of the criteria used to evaluate nominees for the vacant office as listed under section 2-101(4), the council shall evaluate all qualified nominees for the vacant office based upon the nominees' experience, knowledge and abilities needed to perform the duties of the vacant office.
