§ 2-303. Duties of director.

  • The director of public works shall:

    (1)

    Be responsible for all public works functions including administration, financial operation, construction, maintenance and policy development in the areas of water, sewerage, drainage, streets, engineering, including traffic engineering, parkways, capital projects, flood plain management; and environmental affairs;

    (2)

    Evaluate department operations for public works and environmental affairs and report to the parish president and parish council on department performance on a regular basis;

    (3)

    Be responsible for capital facilities planning;

    (4)

    Counsel with the parish president and the parish council on policy decisions affecting public works and environmental affairs;

    (5)

    Direct administrative and laboratory support staff;

    (6)

    Direct the public works group and department of environmental affairs in formulating and evaluating operating policies, programs and procedures;

    (7)

    Prepare reports on departmental operations evaluating performance against established objectives, and special reports on operating problems or plans as required;

    (8)

    Coordinate budget formulation activities in the public works group and department of environmental affairs;

    (9)

    Prepare policy statements and plans for the public works group and department of environmental affairs under the direction of the parish president.
