§ 2-378. Duties of director—Generally.

  • The director of parks and recreation shall:

    (1)

    Manage department operations in recreation and parks;

    (2)

    Provide policy guidance to the parish president and the chief administrative assistant in the area of recreation and parks;

    (3)

    Direct administrative and field staff assigned to this department;

    (4)

    Counsel with the parish president, the parish council, the chief administrative assistant and the deputy chief administrative assistant on policy decisions affecting recreation, Lafreniere Park, and Parc Des Familles;

    (5)

    Formulate and evaluate operating policies, programs and procedures relative to recreation with advice and consent of the chief administrative assistant;

    (6)

    Formulate and evaluate operating policies; programs and procedures relating to Lafreniere Park and present them to the Lafreniere Park Advisory Board for their review and evaluation;

    (7)

    Direct the formulation and evaluation of operating policies; programs and procedures relating to Parc Des Familles and present them to the Parc Des Familles Citizen Advisory Board for their review and evaluation;

    (8)

    Prepare reports on departmental operations evaluating performance against established objectives, and special reports on operating problems or plans as required;

    (9)

    (10)

    Coordinate budget formulation and management activities in the parks and recreation department.
