§ 2-149. Parish attorney to dedicate full time to service of the parish.

  • (a)

    The parish attorney shall devote his full time to the service of the parish and shall perform no legal services other than as legal counsel to the council, the president, and all parish departments, offices, agencies, and special districts and those legal duties as may be assigned to him by administrative regulations adopted pursuant to the Jefferson Parish Charter.

    (b)

    No attorney shall be approved by the council to serve as parish attorney unless and until said attorney first executes and submits to the council an affidavit attesting and swearing that he will fully comply with the provisions of subsection (a) herein during his tenure and employment as parish attorney.

    (c)

    Any person who is found by the council after due process and an opportunity is given to present evidence in his defense to be in violation of the provisions of this section shall be terminated from his position as parish attorney.
