§ 2-198. Duties of the director of the department of inspection and code enforcement—Generally.

  • The director of the department of inspection and code enforcement shall direct, control and supervise the functions of:

    (1)

    Plan review/permitting section of the department;

    (2)

    Regulatory section, including the building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and gas sections;

    (3)

    Dangerous building abatement section of the department;

    (4)

    Cashier's section;

    (5)

    Reports to the council, through the parish administration, on an as-requested basis, with a comprehensive report on the number of dangerous buildings in the parish by council districts, and remediation planned within the following three (3) months;

    (6)

    Ensure the enforcement of codes as mandated by the State of Louisiana, as well as local ordinances, including, but not limited to the International Residential Code, International Building Code, International Existing Building Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, Louisiana State Plumbing Code, and the National Electrical Code;

    (7)

    Ensure the enforcement of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regulations for private development within the parish;

    (8)

    Facilitate the activities of the board of standards and appeals, including case origination, scheduling and administration of meetings, payment to members, and providing clerical and technical support;

    (9)

    Facilitate the activities of the board of zoning adjustments, including case origination and technical support;

    (10)

    Serve as a standing member of the Jefferson Parish alcohol beverage permit review committee.
