§ 2-243. Duties of the director.

  • The director of engineering shall assist the public works director in directing, controlling and supervising the following functions:

    (1)

    Engineering design, construction supervision and project management of all projects under the jurisdiction of the public works department;

    (2)

    Construction supervision of all water, sewerage, streets, and drainage infrastructure installation and all such facilities accepted for maintenance by the parish from private developments;

    (3)

    Traffic engineering and the associated design and maintenance of signals, signs and markings;

    (4)

    Street lighting with associated design, operation, and maintenance;

    (5)

    Planning of future, major street and bridge capital improvement projects, including maintenance and new construction;

    (6)

    Provide engineering services to the department of public works as required and directed by the director of the department of public works;

    (7)

    Surveying;

    (8)

    SCADA (supervisory control and automated data acquisition) system design and maintenance;

    (9)

    Public works warehouse facility operations and maintenance.
