§ 2-875.30. Composition; terms, vacancies.

  • (a)

    The Jefferson Parish Charter Advisory Board shall be composed of fifteen (15) members, all of whom shall be registered voters of Jefferson Parish, as follows:

    (1)

    Seven (7) members, one (1) appointed by each council member;

    (2)

    One (1) member appointed by the President of Our Lady of Holy Cross College;

    (3)

    Two (2) members appointed by the parish president;

    (4)

    One (1) member appointed by the president of the Loyola University;

    (5)

    One (1) member appointed by the chancellor of the University of New Orleans;

    (6)

    One (1) member appointed by the president of Tulane University;

    (7)

    One (1) member appointed by the president of Xavier University; and

    (8)

    One (1) member appointed by the president of Dillard University.

    (b)

    All appointments to the Jefferson Parish Charter Advisory Board to be made by the Council or by members of the council in accordance with this section shall be by council resolution. Each other appointment to the Jefferson Parish Charter Advisory Board shall become effective when written notification of said appointment is received by the parish clerk from the person authorized to make such appointment in accordance with this section.

    (c)

    The members of the Jefferson Parish Charter Advisory Board shall serve for one (1) year concurrent terms beginning with the first meeting of the board.

    (d)

    Vacancies on the board shall be filled for the unexpired term of the vacant member by appointment in the manner provided for in this section by the person who appointed the vacant member. A vacancy shall be deemed to exist if a member misses three (3) consecutive meetings of the board.
