§ 2-556. Composition; terms.

  • (a)

    The Bucktown Marina Advisory Board shall be composed of nine (9) members, as follows:

    (1)

    The Jefferson Parish Attorney, or his/her designee;

    (2)

    A representative of the Lake Pontchartrain Commission Fisherman's Association, to be appointed by the councilmember representing Council District 5 from nominations made by the association;

    (3)

    A representative of the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Office (JEDCO);

    (4)

    A representative of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East;

    (5)

    A representative of recreational fishermen, to be appointed by the Councilmember representing Council District 5;

    (6)

    The Director of the Jefferson Parish Department of Parks and Recreation, or his designee;

    (7)

    A representative of the Bucktown Neighborhood Association, to be appointed by the Councilmember representing Council District 5 from nominations made by the Association;

    (8)

    The Coastal Advisor of the Louisiana State University Ag Center, or his/her designee; and

    (9)

    The councilmember representing Jefferson Parish Council District 5, or his/her designee.

    (10)

    The councilmember representing Jefferson Parish Council-at-Large Division A, or his/designee; and

    (11)

    The councilmember representing Jefferson Parish Council-at Large Division B, or his/her designee.

    (b)

    The term of each member of the board appointed by a councilmember shall run concurrently with the term of the official who appointed the member, except that a board member may be removed by the appointing councilmember at any time during the board member's term without cause. Each board member shall continue to serve beyond the term of his appointment until his successor is appointed.

    (c)

    The unexcused absence of a member of the board from three (3) or more consecutive regular meetings of the board shall cause the immediate termination of that member's membership on the board. For purposes of calculating the number needed for a quorum of the board to conduct business, the termination of a member under this subsection shall reduce the membership on the board by one (1) member until the member is replaced in accordance with this section.
