§ 2-900. Purchases from petty cash funds.

  • Purchases from any petty cash fund must be only for items so small in quantity that there would be no apparent savings had such purchases been made by the purchasing department. All such single purchases in excess of two hundred dollars ($200.00) shall be supported by a full written explanation. It is the responsibility of the department of finance to ensure against the practice of making several small purchases in a relatively short period of time when the combination of these purchases could have resulted in a quantity sufficient to effect a savings.
