§ 33-1.30. Property maintenance zoning/quality of life director.

  • In addition to the responsibilities established in the Jefferson Parish Code of Ordinances, the property maintenance zoning/quality of life director shall have the responsibility to administer and enforce certain provisions of this UDC and this Code, as stated herein, but not limited to, the following powers and duties:

    (1)

    Inspect privately-owned property and structures and enforce this UDC and the Code regarding quality of life matters and the use and maintenance of privately-owned properties and structures;

    (2)

    If the property maintenance zoning/quality of life director finds that any provision of this UDC under her authority is being violated, the property maintenance/quality of life director shall notify in writing the person responsible for such violation, indicating the nature of the violation and ordering action necessary to correct it.

    (3)

    To remedy a violation of this UDC or Code, the property maintenance zoning/quality of life director shall:

    a.

    Order the discontinuance of the illegal activity; and

    b.

    Take any other action authorized by this UDC, this Code, or the parish council to ensure compliance and to prevent violation of its provisions, including action pursuant to Chapter 2.5 administrative adjudication of public health, housing, fire code, environmental and historic district violations of this Code.

    (4)

    Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the parish council or administration.
