§ 36-130. Status determination.

  • (a)

    For the purposes of determining the status of any abandoned, inoperable, junked, or derelict vehicle the department of inspection and code enforcement shall appoint inspectors, who may be any of the personnel of that department at the discretion of the director, who shall inspect any such vehicle, record the location, the type, make, color, and license registration, of the vehicle, if there be any, and shall tag, number and photograph such vehicles.

    (b)

    A visible and accessible vehicle which is abandoned, junked, or derelict may be tagged anywhere on the property in which said violation exists. If vehicle is visible but not accessible to the inspector for tagging, the property owner may be notified via mail and tag placed on closest window to the front door of the property.

    (c)

    Nothing contained herein shall prevent or prohibit any authorized personnel of the sheriff's office from performing the same procedure in determining the status of any vehicle.
