§ 37-16. Definitions.

For the purposes of this article the following definitions shall apply.

Contractor means any person or entity that performs work for another person or entity, including contractors who have contracts to perform work for the parish.

Desirable trees list means a list maintained by the parish department of parkway which lists those species of trees which shall not be removed from public property without special permission from the parish department of parkway.

Parish-licensed landscaper means an individual, corporation or other entity who holds a valid parish license for planting and removing trees and other vegetation located on public property.

Public property means all property owned by the parish or under the jurisdiction of the department of public works including, but not limited to, sidewalks, parkways, rights-of-way, highways, medians, public squares, parks, as well as other public places under the jurisdiction of the parish.

Vegetation means plant life, including but not limited to, trees, shrubs, flowing and non-flowing plants.
