§ 37-22. Obligations of contractors.

  • (a)

    During the erection or repair of any building or structure, the owner, the builder, or contractor thereof shall place such guards as necessary around all the nearby trees on public property to effectively prevent injury to the trees.

    (b)

    The requirements in this chapter, including the provisions for the protection of trees and other vegetation on public property shall apply to all construction projects, including public works. The contractors on public works projects are obligated to protect trees and shrubs and to obtain permits for the removal, transplanting, pruning or trimming of trees; however, no permit fee shall be due for such permits.
