§ 38-12. Unlawful gratuity requests.
(a)
It shall be unlawful for any person/business to require payments/gratuities from the operator of any vehicle regulated by this chapter in order to procure passengers/deliveries for said vehicle.
(b)
Should a valid written service contract pre-exist between the parties, the provisions of the above paragraph shall apply to all payments/gratuities that exceed those set forth in the written agreement.
(c)
Any violation of the provisions of this section shall subject the offender to those penalties provided in sections 1-10 and 1-11 of this Code and/or applicable state statutes.
