§ 38-5. PMZ authority, duties, and powers.

(a)

PMZ is hereby given the authority to regulate all vehicles-for-hire operating within unincorporated Jefferson Parish.

(b)

It shall be the duty of PMZ to see that all applications to own/operate vehicles regulated by this chapter conform to all requirements established by this chapter.

(c)

PMZ may make and incorporate such rules and regulations and prescribe such forms as are necessary to carry out the provisions of this chapter. These provisions shall include, but not be limited to, the right to:

(1)

Designate VFH stands and zones on public streets of unincorporated Jefferson Parish;

(2)

Approve/disapprove any VFH stand/zone location and any contract regarding such location on private property;

(3)

Approve persons in the taximeter servicing and inspection business and/or the advertisement holder servicing and inspection business;

(4)

Designate the maximum age of vehicles regulated by this chapter; and

(5)

Require running boards on vehicles deemed inordinately high for the access/discharge of passengers.
