§ 39-1. Parish line canal declared public navigable waterway.

  • The waterway or canal known as the parish line canal, lying west of and continuous to the upper protection levee of the parish and running parallel to the boundary line between the parishes of Jefferson and St. Charles, is hereby declared to be a public navigable waterway subject to the free and unrestricted navigation by the public, beginning at a point on the canal two hundred (200) feet north of the right-of-way of the Illinois Central Railroad; thence in a northerly direction the entire length of the canal to where it enters Lake Pontchartrain.
