In case any building or structure is or is proposed to be erected, structurally altered,
or maintained, or any building, structure, or land is used in violation of any provision
of this chapter, any proper officer of Jefferson Parish or their duly authorized representatives
or any adjacent or neighboring property owner who would be especially damaged by such
violation may, in addition to other remedies, institute injunctive or other appropriate
action or proceedings to prevent such unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction,
alteration, conversion, maintenance, or use or to correct or abate such violation,
or to prevent the occupancy of such building structure or land, or to prevent any
illegal act, conduct, business, or use in and about such premises. Where a violation
of this chapter exists the inspection and code enforcement director may, in addition
to other remedies, notify all public utilities and parish service agencies that such
violation exists and request that service be withheld therefrom until such time as
the violation ceases to exist.
