§ 40-864. Remedy.

  • In case any building or structure is or is proposed to be erected, structurally altered, or maintained, or any building, structure, or land is used in violation of any provision of this chapter, any proper officer of Jefferson Parish or their duly authorized representatives or any adjacent or neighboring property owner who would be especially damaged by such violation may, in addition to other remedies, institute injunctive or other appropriate action or proceedings to prevent such unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration, conversion, maintenance, or use or to correct or abate such violation, or to prevent the occupancy of such building structure or land, or to prevent any illegal act, conduct, business, or use in and about such premises. Where a violation of this chapter exists the inspection and code enforcement director may, in addition to other remedies, notify all public utilities and parish service agencies that such violation exists and request that service be withheld therefrom until such time as the violation ceases to exist.
