§ 7-1. Livestock running at large; poundkeeper.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful to permit any cattle, horse, swine, sheep, goat, poultry or other livestock of any description to roam or run at large or be upon any street, alleyway, highway, common or public square, or on the property of any neighbor, except with his or her consent. Any such animal found at large shall be impounded, in the manner provided for in these articles, in the custody of the poundkeeper or other location approved by the council.

    (b)

    There may be appointed in this parish one (1) or more poundkeepers, whose duty shall be to impound all livestock or other animals found to be in violation of this section and to provide within twenty-four (24) hours of impoundment a "found report" to the animal shelter. The found report shall contain a description of the animal, the location found, and the location of impoundment.
