§ 8-1-4. Prohibited activity.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, partnership, copartnership, association, corporation or other organization, or any combination thereof, to undertake, attempt to construct, supervise, oversee, direct, or in any manner assume charge of the construction, alteration, repair, improvement, movement, demolition, putting up, tearing down, or furnishing labor, material or equipment, and installing same for any new construction, or reconstruction of any structure within the jurisdiction of the parish unless a valid building permit for such construction, alteration, repair, improvement, movement, demolition has been issued by the director of inspection and code enforcement in accordance with or as otherwise as required by the provisions of this chapter or the provisions of any building code adopted or enforced by the parish. The provisions of this chapter and the codes adopted in by reference in Article II shall, as addressed, be mandatory for all construction in unincorporated Jefferson Parish.

    (b)

    In addition to the penalties provided for in section 1-10, any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be subject to the revocation or suspension of any license required by this chapter.
