§ 6.04. Supremacy Clause.

  • (A)

    It is intended that this Charter give to the parish the broadest powers permissible under the Constitution of the State of Louisiana and in cases of conflict between the provisions of this Charter and any law of the State dealing with parish and local government and the departments, offices, agencies, subdivisions, and special districts thereof, the provisions of this Charter and the ordinances adopted hereunder shall prevail.

    (B)

    All other special and general laws, as they apply to the Parish of Jefferson, all parish ordinances, and rules and regulations not inconsistent with this Charter shall continue in effect until they are superseded by ordinance adopted by the Council pursuant to this Charter and the Constitution.
