§ 19-20. Injunctive relief; judicial order.

  • (a)

    Application for injunctive relief or judicial order of abatement afforded by this chapter shall be by petition to a parish court of competent jurisdiction or the Twenty-Fourth Judicial District Court.

    (b)

    A violation of the provisions of an injunction or judicial order of abatement issued in a cause instituted under the provisions of this chapter shall constitute a contempt of court. A person found guilty of such contempt shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the parish prison for a period of not less than twenty-four (24) hours nor more than thirty (30) days or both fine and imprisonment. On conviction for a second or subsequent contempt the offender shall be punished by both fine and imprisonment, without benefit of probation or suspension of sentence.
