Article V. CHARITABLE SOLICITATIONS |
§ 22-121. Definitions.
The following definitions shall govern in the use and interpretation of this article unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
Charitable organization shall mean any veterans, eleemosynary, benevolent, educational, religious, fraternal, civic, or service organization, association, corporation, or agency which has been granted nonprofit status by the appropriate agencies of the State of Louisiana and/or the United States government.
Contributions shall mean and include the words alms, food, clothing, money, subscription, property or anything of value by donation or under the guise of a loan.
Distributing and distribution shall mean the giving or circulation of any hand bill, written advertisement or publication.
Person shall mean any individual, firm, partnership, corporation, company, association, joint venture, church, religious sect, religious denomination, school, society, organization, or league, and includes any employee, agent, member, trustee, receiver, or other similar representative thereof.
Solicit and solicitation shall mean the selling [of] any item, property, article or anything of value or the request, directly or indirectly, for contributions or money, credit, property, financial assistance, employment, business or anything of value, from the occupant of any vehicle on any street. The words shall also mean and include any method of request or selling, whether oral or written.
Streets shall mean all public streets, roads, thoroughfares, highways, bridges, alleys, passageways, rights-of-way, medians, curbs and shoulders of the road.
