§ 23-116. Nepotism prohibited.

  • (a)

    General rule. On and after June 1, 1979, no member of the agency or department head's immediate family shall be employed within his agency or department, except with the approval of the personnel board after a thorough and complete review of the qualifications of such person for public employment.

    (b)

    Public employees prohibited from employing immediate family. On and after June 1, 1979, no agency or department head and no public employee shall employ any member of his immediate family within his agency or department, except with the approval of the personnel board after a thorough and complete review of the qualifications of such person for public employment.

    (c)

    Exceptions. The provisions of this section shall not apply to employees of the parish serving in such capacity on June 1, 1979. For any such employees, the provisions of this section shall not in any way be construed to hinder, alter and affect normal promotional advancement of public employment.
