§ 2-5. Official parish seal designated.

  • (a)

    The official seal for the Parish of Jefferson shall be a circular escutcheon with the coat of arms of the State of Louisiana, the pelican feeding its young, in the center, surrounded by the inscription, "JEFFERSON PARISH" on the top and "STATE OF LOUISIANA" on the bottom, the two (2) inscriptions shall be separated [by] two (2) stars, one on the left and the other on the right. Facsimiles of the parish seal may have a green field with all depictions and inscriptions in white or it may have a white field with all depictions and inscriptions in either gold or black.

    (b)

    An impression or a facsimile of the parish seal may be affixed to the official acts of the parish. The absence of the seal from any official act, however, shall not affect the validity of any such document, nor shall the seal be required to certify the authenticity of copies of ordinances, resolutions, minutes, or other documents on file with the parish.

    (c)

    The parish seal or a facsimile thereof may appear on the letterhead of parish stationery and other documents either published or sanctioned by the parish, and such use on all public and official documents is hereby authorized.
