§ 33-3.52.5. Signs.

  • (a)

    Detached sign. No detached sign shall be permitted except a monument sign limited to thirty-two (32) square feet in area and six (6) feet in height.

    (b)

    Attached sign. The following attached signs shall be permitted:

    (1)

    For nonresidential or mixed-use multi-tenant buildings where the entrance into each nonresidential tenant space is in the interior of the building, one (1) flat sign shall be permitted that identifies the tenants, not to exceed twenty (20) square feet.

    (2)

    For nonresidential or mixed-use multi-tenant buildings where each tenant space has a separate public entrance on the exterior of the building, each tenant shall be permitted one (1) flat sign not to exceed one (1) square foot for each linear foot of individual tenant space width as measured along the facade where the tenant has its main public entrance, or forty (40) square feet, whichever is less.

    (3)

    For nonresidential single-occupancy buildings, one (1) flat sign shall be permitted not to exceed one (1) square foot for each linear foot of building width as measured along the façade where the building has its main public entrance, or forty (40) square feet, whichever is less. On corner properties, one (1) additional sign shall be permitted on the secondary building façade provided the total area of the sign does not exceed fifty (50) percent of the sign area allowed for single frontage properties.

    (4)

    One flat sign that identifies a home occupation shall be permitted not to exceed two (2) square feet.

    (5)

    The attached signs may hang and be positioned perpendicular to the main structure of the business subject to safety codes and administrative approval. In no case shall the hanging sign contain more than six (6) square feet in area.

    (6)

    The attached signs shall complement and be incorporated within the architecture of the main structure, and they shall not move, rotate, flash, blink, or fluctuate.

    (c)

    Prohibited signs . The following signs shall be prohibited:

    (1)

    Flashing signs and signs with animated and scintillating lights.

    (2)

    Electronic variable message signs.

    (3)

    Off-premise signs.
