§ 16-103. Health care facilities.

(a)

Medical wastes shall be handled and treated in accordance with the Sanitary Code of the state, promulgated in accordance with LSA-R.S. 49:951 et seq., March 20, 1984.

(b)

Used sharps shall be deposited and sealed in hard, plastic disposable containers specifically designed for sharps disposal ("sharps containers").

(c)

Medical wastes other than sharps shall be deposited in strong, plastic, leak proof bags and sealed.

(d)

Sharps containers shall be disposed of:

(1)

Through the services of a medical waste transporter approved and permitted by the parish; or

(2)

By other methods authorized by the state or the federal government.
