§ 16-104. Medical waste transporter permits.

  • (a)

    Required.

    (1)

    All persons engaged in the commercial transportation of medical wastes in the parish shall obtain a medical waste transportation permit;

    (2)

    No person shall commence a commercial medical waste transportation activity without first obtaining a permit pursuant to this section.

    (b)

    Application. Any person seeking a medical waste transportation permit shall submit an application for such permit, and any applicable fees, to the department of environmental affairs. In support of this application the following information shall be provided:

    (1)

    The name and address of applicant;

    (2)

    The name and address of disposal facility;

    (3)

    A written statement by an authorized representative of the facility at which the medical wastes are disposed, that such facility has been authorized by state and/or federal agencies to provide disposal services for medical wastes;

    (4)

    Certification by an authorized representative of the medical waste transporter that he is familiar with the provisions of this article.

    (c)

    Revocation. Violation of any provision of this article by any person permitted to transport medical waste shall result in revocation of such permit.

    (d)

    Availability of list. A current list of persons permitted to transport medical wastes shall be provided to all interested professional associations and societies with membership in Jefferson Parish.
