§ 16-106. Residential medical wastes.

  • (a)

    In order to prevent the loss and scattering of sharps used by diabetics, allergy patients, and others who use needles and syringes at home, residential users of sharps shall place used items in containers with secure lids prior to disposal. Such containers may include, but not be limited to, commercial sharps containers, plastic milk bottles, plastic soft drink bottles, plastic jars, sealed coffee cans, or other similar items. Glass containers should not be used.

    (b)

    Securely closed containers of used sharps may be disposed of with normal household trash.
