§ 5-3. Restrictions and prohibitions.

  • (a)

    Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, no person shall transport or cause to be transported any patient in need of emergency medical services in any vehicle other than an ambulance.

    (b)

    Emergency response vehicles and patient transfer vehicles may be used to transport:

    (1)

    Patients that may be transported on a scheduled or nonemergency basis;

    (2)

    Emergency patients only in the case of a disaster or major catastrophe, when declared by the Jefferson Parish President or his/her designee, when ambulances with permits issued by the department are insufficient to render the services required.

    (c)

    No license, permit or certificate issued under the provisions of this chapter shall be assignable or transferable by the person or company to whom issued.
