§ 2-908. Council authorization to advertise and bid acceptance.

  • Prior council authorization to advertise for statements of qualifications, requests for proposals or bids and formal council acceptance of statements of qualifications, requests for proposals or bids received shall be necessary in the following instances:

    (1)

    The sale of bonds;

    (2)

    The purchase of any item which is not included in the current operating budget;

    (3)

    Professional services;

    (4)

    Insurance;

    (5)

    Construction or renovation projects in excess of the contract limit as defined in R.S. 38:2212A(1).

It should be noted that § 1 of Ord. No. 23142, adopted September 19, 2007, provides, "That the requirement of prior Council authorization to advertise for construction or renovation projects in excess of the contract limit as defined in LA RS 38:2212A(1) as set forth in Section 2-908(5) be temporarily waived as it pertains to property elevation and reconstruction projects under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and elevation projects under the Flood Mitigation Assistance Program due to the losses sustained by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita."
